In late 2017, Susan teamed up with screenwriter/director Ashlei Hardenburg (see bio below) to adapt her musical memoir Girl/Group: A Daughter's Tale into a film.  Their collaboration has already been chosen as an Official Selection and garnered the prize for Best Unproduced Screenplay at the Grove Film Festival.  They are currently in development for an expected Summer 2022 shoot.

Ashlei Hardenburg

(Writer, Director, Producer)

 

Ashlei is the co-writer and director of the screen adaptation of

Girl/Group. Her film career began as a production assistant on TV shows like Daredevil and Jessica Jones. After working as a producer’s assistant on Orange Is The New Black, she gained experience as an associate producer, production manager, and assistant director on docuseries television, feature films, and music videos. Her previous directing experience include the upcoming short films Role Of A Lifetime and A Single Evening. She is a quarter finalist in the Final Draft Big Break Screenwriting Contest for her TV pilot script Jersey Rican and winner of Best Unproduced Screenplay at the Grove Film Festival for Girl Group: A Daughter’s Tale. She produced the student documentary Paper State: Undocumented, Unafraid, Undeterred, which won Best Student Documentary at the American Pavilion in the Cannes Film Festival. Ashlei has a BFA in Film from Vassar College and is a proud GermaRican from Jersey City, New Jersey.
